Fishing Report
January Fishing
This January in Key West has been unusually cold.
Two weeks ago, we had record lows here and the
water dropped to an unheard off 51 degrees. This
drastic drop in temperature caused many small fish
and birds to die. Finally things are getting back to
normal and Fishing has been great! So far this year,
the migration of bait fish on the reef has been
phenominal. This has allowed many top predators
veracious feeding on the reef. Targets have included:
sailfish, tunas, mahi-mahi, and kingfish, just to name
a few. This is great fishing because we can sight fish
many of these species. Drive right into the feeding
frenzy and cast live baits to the predators. Game On!

February Fishing
Still pretty cool here by Key West standards. It has
been an average of around 68 degrees. Blue water
gulf stream current has moved in and brought
mahi-mahi and some tunas as well. Sailfishing has
slowed a bit but thee are still a few out there. Reef
and wreck fishing has really been producing with a
great amberjack bite as well as mutton snappers
and a grouper here and there. Reefs have been
holding snappers as well and plenty of kingfish
which are great on light tackle. Get down to the keys
for some great action and light tackle offshore
fishing aboard Double Down! We are waiting for
your call to reserve your fishing adventure.
